(December 3, Detroit) The Michigan branch of the American Family Association says it will exchange five dollar bills for fake ones being put in Salvation Army Kettles by gay activists.
A protest of the Salvation Army's rejection of partnership benefits for employees that began with a PFLAG mother in Michigan is spreading across the country.
The conservative AFA has pledged to give up to $1,000 in cash for the protest papers that resemble $5 bills.
In Flint. a local business that wants to remain anonymous said it would donate $5 for each of the papers put into the kettles in that city.
The AFA has dubbed the campaign "Redemption for the Intolerant."
"PFLAG's phoney fives are the very currency of intolerance," the AFA said. It labelled the protest "an untimely campaign of anti-Christian bigotry."
The Salvation Army will not say how many fake fives bell-ringers have received.
