December 17, 2001: The Rev.
Jerry Falwell hopes to leverage President Bush's
present popularity in pressing
the Religious Rights beliefs down Americans throats.
Claims the President sees
eye
to eye on his
lobbying
campaign to
get Congress to
pass the
righs agenda. Falwell is
promising just anything he thinks will
stop the mass
exodus of his supporters. With
his and Robertsons horrendous statements, "Americans
got what they deserved on
September 11th. In going further and poining
the finger of
blame at Pagans, Abortionists, Feminists, Gays,
Lesbians, ACLU and People for
the
American Way in particular. In his last
fund-raising message, Falwell's youngest his son
said his father is victim of the
news media "wolf pack" and "liberal lies. Blaming the
media and gay civil
rights activists for
launching "a vicious smear campaign". Beause
of this, donations to his
father’s empire have plummeted and that the ministry has lost
more than $500,000 in income since the terrorist
attacks. In a second fund-raisring
appeal to 2 million Christians, he hopes will raise 1.2 Million. Falwell said that Bush was
very excited" with the "Christian Call to
Action." a new lobbying campaign, Falwell told
Bush about. His told
supporters, "Now is the Time" to take advantage of Bush's current
popularity and get the religious right's consertative family-values agenda passed by
Congress. A White House spokesman, told the Times he
was not aware of any such
conversation had taking place between the two. But, Falwell's pledge of support from
Bush and that they remain good Buddies, hard to believe. Is
that, after his "America
derserved to be attacked by terrorists and 3,000 plus people murdered. The firestorm
of condemnation, critisim and of people distancing themselves from him.
Included the
President and members of the House and of Comgress. Under the
circumstances and
as in the past when it comes to
raising funds to support the
rights anti-gay agenda.
Truthfulness and honstly falls by the wayside. Actually, these two qualities, that
most of us
believe are essential if to be respected and trusted by others. Are not apart of
Falwell's
and the religious rights code of ethics in thier
pursuit of dening others their rights. Or in
forcing their personal beliefs
and agendas down the throats of those who disagree with
them.
