1 - GET INVOLVED & GET OTHERS INVOLVED: REGISTER FOR THE DAY OF SILENCE, ENCOURAGE ENDORSEMENTS AND ATTEND A BREAKING THE SILENCE RALLY

Day of Silence is only 7 days away!!
Over 1,700 students in schools registered for the Day of Silence last year. Let's beat that number this year!  If you are a student or faculty member and have not yet registered, please do so! And if you aren't, please
encourage students and faculty you know to do so! Register at:
http://www.dayofsilence.org/involve/hs.html

There is still time to endorse the Day of Silence, as well - encourage other groups, organizations, and websites to endorse!  Please endorse at: http://www.dayofsilence.org/aendorse.html

All over the country, students and organizations are planning Breaking the Silence events in their communities. What a great way to end the Day of Silence by breaking the silence with some noise! Check out the Breaking the Silence Events at: http://www.dayofsilence.org/ievents.html

Are you organizing a Breaking the Silence event and yours is not listed?
Send a paragraph with the date, time, location, what the event is about and contact info to: Martha Cabrera Estévez,
info@dayofsilence.org. We'll be sure to put it on the website.

2 - DAY OF SILENCE LEADERSHIP TEAM

Day of Silence Project Leadership Team consists of:

Nine (9) State Student Organizers, each who support those within their state or region of their state (California, Florida, Michigan, Massachusetts, Illinois, Texas, Connecticut and New York).

Four (4) Regional Student Organizers, each who support those within their region.

Three (3) Student Co-Chairs, each who support the State and Regional Student Organizers and occasionally local organizers.

Contact a student organizer in your state or region with any last minute questions.
Check out: http://www.dayofsilence.org/contact.html

3 - TIPS FOR LAST MINUTE ORGANIZERS OR THOSE WHOSE ADMINISTRATIONS HAVE SAID "NO"

Five simple tips to help last minute organizers and those who are unable to organize a Day of Silence at their school plan a smaller activity to support the ideals of ending harassment, discrimination and abuse in schools:
http://www.dayofsilence.org/downloads/r117.html

Check out the petition and posters from GLSEN South Central Wisconsin. Their statewide rally, Safer Schools for a Safer World, is demanding gender identity/expression inclusion in the current state school non-discrimination policy. http://glsenscw.org/april9.pdf

Students in Albany, NY will be breaking the silence with performances at a downtown performing arts center. Check out their poster, bus scholarships for students and more! http://glsennycr.org/

NEW! Based on popular demand, and the help of the Manual HS in Colorado, we have now added the speaking card 'en español.' Please use this to include even more students in your school's Day of Silence.

4 - THE STUDENT ORGANIZING YEARBOOK: HUSH AND HOLLER
By, ANDY MARRA

"So what should we expect this year for the Day of Silence and 'Breaking the Silence', Andy?" a friend asked me with a playfulness in hir voice. "Both events last year were awesome, so how is GLSEN New York Capital Region (or GLSEN NYCR) going to topple that? Hmmm?"
