RE: Anti-Gay Website Deceptive Use
of Matthew and Judy Shepard's Name
The response to the Alert and
Call to Action issued by Tampa Bay Coalition regarding the
deceptive use of Matthew and Judy Shepard's
good names, was overwhelming. There were
hundreds of calls made and emails
sent to the host server, complaining of the
dishonest and
Matthew Shepard and was endorsed by
Judy Shepard, this was a fraudulent claim. When,
in fact,
matthewshepard.info, did not exist, the link to visit this site,
automatically redirected
all visitors to www.anti-gay.com. This website not only, did not honor Matthew
Shepard, it
viciously defamed
him and his dear mother, Judy Shepard.
Because of the number of complaints, the
host server, investigated the claims made and found
them to be true. They took immediate action
and have discontinued the use of the domain and
www.matthewshepard.info, remains
offline.
As coordinator of TBC, I would
like to express my appreciation and my gratitude, to all those
who responded to my call for your
assistance. Your efforts were instrumental in
putting a stop
to this terrible situation. As always,
your continued support and dedication has made a positive
difference, in the lives of many. In this
case, the deceptive use of Matthew and Judy Shepard's
good names, in an effort to promote a site
that defames them, was not allowed to continue.
