*The suicide rate among our youth has been increasing.
*It is rare for children at 10 years of age and under to attempt or commit suicide, however, after the
onset of puberty sucicde incidents increase and can peak at young adulthood.
*Suicide attempts outnumber actual successful suicides.
*About 60 to 80 percent of the youth contemplating suicide, sought help in the months preceeding
attempting or commiting suicide.
*Youths who have previously attempted suicide, are at higher risk for commiting suicide.
*Youths who have succeeded in committing suicide, throughly planned it out and with the intention of killing themselves.
*Suicide has a great impact on family members and the youth's peers.

*It couldn't ever happen to my teen children.

*Young people do not experience or suffer depression or from other mental disorders.
